Our social media reach is one of our greatest assets. We work with advisors to identify our highest leverage opportunities. Below are assets for our campaign to support BlockPower’s effort with low propensity Black voters.
Help Get out The Black Vote in Key Swing States.
BlockPower targets key swing states and specific Black majority neighborhoods. They recruit “voting ambassadors” who are paid to recruit “vote triplers” from a curated list of low-propensity Black voters who they may already know. There is significant research demonstrating the effectiveness of both voting asks from trusted messengers (e.g. family, friends, and neighbors) as well as the act of committing to talking to 3 contacts (“vote tripling”) about voting. Their approach is not only highly targeted and effective, but it also has the added bonus of injecting capital into some of the communities most affected by the pandemic.
BlockPower went viral, demonstrating unequivocally that their model works, with 31x weekly growth of ambassadors, and 22x weekly growth of people committed to vote.
Unfortunately, they ran out of money and had to pause operations last week. At the point BlockPower was forced to make that call, they had recruited 8,721 ambassadors and 90,033 committed voters.
We are working to help them urgently raise funds to continue their extraordinarily valuable work.
